The 2019-2020 fires struck large parts of Australia, the blazes that scorched pasture, destroyed livestock, killed millions of animals, and displaced thousands of people, ravaged the land, and razed vineyards.

Over 820,000 ha agricultural land affected by the Australian bushfire, New South Wales and Victoria were worst affected. As the key milk-producing states affected, this piled on more pain for the country’s dairy industry, already hurt by a three-year drought. In Australia’s sheep and cattle country, farmers had to rush to bury their dead.

 Worst-hit State              Agriculture

 New South   Wales          558,878   ha

 Victoria                             161,717   ha

 Tasmania                                825   ha

Several vineyards have suffered ‘devastating damage’ alongside wider communities from the deadly wildfires, Adelaide Hills was believed to be one of the worst-hit wine areas. A number of wineries and vineyard owners across parts of South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland were believed to have suffered serious damage from bushfires that may take years to recover from.
