How To Protect Yourself From The Coronavirus

The novel coronavirus has spread across the world, the US becomes the first nation with more than 360,000 COVID-19 infections. United Kingdom becomes the fifth country to pass the 5,000 coronavirus deaths threshold, after Italy, Spain and the US and France. And the WHO has officially declared the disease a pandemic. Below are some basic steps can help you protect yourself from COVID-19.

Stay home

Stay home if you can. Avoid public transportation when possible, limit nonessential travel, work from home and skip social gatherings. Don’t go to crowded restaurants or busy gyms.

Wash your hands often and correctly

Wash your hands often with soap and then wash them for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in a public place. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol which should be rubbed in for about 20 seconds. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Stay Safe

Stay away from coughing and sneezing. It's also important to remember not to blame people when they do spread the disease. Practice social distancing by keeping at least 6 feet — about two arm lengths — away from others if you must go out in public.

Cover your coughs and sneezes.

Use a tissue to cover your nose and mouth when you cough and sneeze and then throw used tissues in a lined trash can. Wash your hands immediately. If a tissue isn’t available, you can cough or sneeze into your elbow.

Wear a face mask if you are sick

A face mask can help stop respiratory droplets from spreading. If you are sick and a face mask makes it hard to breathe, then a healthy person around you should wear a mask instead.
